A Circuit

9 03 2012

A simple circuit might consist of a dry cell (battery), two connecting wires (one of each wire being attached to the positive terminal and negative terminal of the dry cell) and a bulb.

The battery is the energy source, the wires are the conductors and the light bulb is the energy receiver.

The battery has positive and negative terminals.

The electrons flow from the positive terminal of the battery, through the wires, to the negative terminal of the battery.

When the connections are complete, the circuit is said to be “closed”.

When one of the electrical component is disconnected, the circuit is said to be “opened”. In practice, circuits are normally opened by switches.
